Oroville - Welcome to Extreme Relover: Oroville Edition.

The community brand North Star, which recently renamed Kern County, presented the city of Oroville on Tuesday on its plan to create a new brand image for the city.

"We are going to be much more fun than Bakersfield," said advisor Eric Smith.

The city approved a contract with North Star on April 19 to "develop and implement a sustainable and strategic marketing and strategic brand which addresses the attraction, expansion and retention of tourists and businesses" declared the city planner Wes Ivin.

.

The main vice-president of the North Star, Ed Barlow, said that, according to his experience, the brand change is important for a community because residents unify what the community represents, attracts interest and the investment of visitors, residents and businesses; and professionalism of municipal communications.

"Communities that will go through this reflexive process to reach the different ... are more competitive, more effective, more successful if they can identify this distinction," said Barlow.

Barlow said North Star will put research on Oroville residents and companies over the next three months and return to the Council with a report.

The company has launched a public website on its brand change process and will announce a public inquiry later in the month at https://www.brandingoroville.com/.

"We are going to discover all these passionate voices thanks to our research process," said Barlow.

The Council approved 7-0 a resolution to modify its contract of the pension system of the public employees of California so that the employees of the city no longer pay part of the costs of the city and should only pay their participation: 7% for non -security employees and 9% for safety employees.

The change will cost $ 22,780 for the current financial year to leave the budgets of the corresponding department, according to the agenda.

The Council approved several other things at its meeting, in particular:

  • A resolution to send two city employees to the California cities league conference instead of special training councilors.
  • Acceptance of a national security subsidy to buy seven iPads for the Oroville fire service.
  • Additional funds to relaunch the outside and other works at the Oroville Convention Center.
  • Examination of your teacher's salary calendar.
  • An amendment to the table lease of the mountain golf club.
  • An agreement with Richard Walls for professional civil engineering services if necessary
  • A 10% increase for the administrator of the city Bill Lagrone while working as an acting police officer.
  • A response to the big report of the Jury of the County 2019-2022 County.

All the elements have been approved in the consent calendar, but the art Hatley advisor took three elements to vote, including the examination of the wage calendar, the agreement for the engineering services which are necessary and increased salary for tears
