SANTA CRUZ — A vehicle chase led by a missing 15-year-old girl drew police in a pursuit from the Westside to La Honda this week.
Shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday, a California Highway Patrol officer attempted to pull over the driver of a reportedly speeding 1999 Honda Accord headed northbound on Mission Street. The pursuit continued into San Mateo County, where the driver crashed the Accord into a dirt embankment near Highway 84 and Sylvan Way, according to a CHP release. The driver and four occupants, all of San Jose, reportedly then fled the vehicle on foot, but were apprehended by pursuing officers.
Each suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to the CHP.
The driver was booked into Santa Cruz County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of felony reckless evading a peace officer, felony reckless evading causing injury, resisting arrest and driving without a valid license. A 15-year-old boy, 15-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy also faced arrests on suspicion of resisting arrest and also were booked into Juvenile Hall. The lone adult in the vehicle, Michael Baker, 18, was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of resisting arrest.
