OAKLAND – California Highway Patrol detectives have identified two cars they believe were involved in the fatal shooting of a toddler on an East Bay freeway last year.
The shooting was reported at 2:07 p.m. on Nov. 6, 2021, on northbound Interstate 880 near Interstate 980 in Oakland. Two cars involved in the shooting immediately left the area, but CHP officers found a third uninvolved car nearby on southbound I-880.
A passenger in that car, 23-month-old Fremont resident Jasper Wu, was hit and killed by a stray bullet.
On Friday night, the CHP announced detectives had identified the possible suspect vehicles as a gray 2007-2010 Infiniti sedan and a gray Nissan sedan. The CHP also released an image of the two cars.
The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information can contact the CHP’s investigation tip line at 707-917-4491.
