Hayward football player Zachariah Norton is the Bay Area News Group’s boys high school athlete of the week for Oct. 24-29 after he had received 40.09% of the vote at the Wednesday afternoon deadline.
Moreau Catholic football player Dean-Taylor Chapman (35.96%) finished second and Leland water polo player Trevor Cosgrove took third.

Norton, a senior, had his fifth 100-yard rushing game of the season, finishing with 118 and three touchdowns in eight carries as Hayward defeated Irvington 31-10 in an MVAL/WACC Mission Division game.
Hayward (4-5, 2-2) plays at Washington-Fremont in a regular-season finale Saturday.
