Housing, public service funding

The City of Cupertino is requesting proposals for eligible capital housing projects and public service programs. The city may award and appropriate funds to one or more eligible projects in each funding category. Funds must be used to serve low- and/or moderate-income households located within city limits.

BMR AHF Capital Housing Projects up to $4.9 million and CDBG Capital Housing Projects of approximately $364,000 are on a one-year grant funding cycle for fiscal year 2023-24. BMR AHF Public Services up to $50,000, CDBG Public Services of approximately $58,000 and general fund HSG programs up to $125,000 are on a two-year grant funding cycle for fiscal years 2023-24 and 2024-25.

The application period will open at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 7 and end at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023 at citydataservices.net.

Night light webinar

The Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society, the Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter and the Sierra Club Bay Alive Campaign are co-hosting a Nov. 16 webinar on dark sky and bird-friendly building and lighting design.

The use of LED technology is causing unintended over-lighting at night. The webinar will address about the biological and physical effects of light at night and strategies to protect health and environment while providing safe and practical lighting solutions.

Speakers are from UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability, the American Bird Conservancy’s Glass Collisions Program, Dark Sky Consulting, LLC and the Portland Audubon Society’s BirdSafe and Lights Out program.
