Man shot, robbed in Oakland’s Uptown district

OAKLAND — A 40-year-old man was shot and robbed of his necklace early Saturday in the Uptown district, authorities said.

The man was in stable condition at a hospital recovering from a gunshot wound to his arm.

The man told police he was walking in the 2500 block of Telegraph Avenue about 12 a.m. Saturday when a masked man confronted him and demanded his necklace.

The man told police when he tried to resist  the suspect pulled a gun and shot him.  The suspect then grabbed the man’s necklace off his neck and ran away.

A detailed description of the suspect was not released.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.  Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
