Westmont stages ‘Miracle’
Westmont High School’s theater arts department is staging “Miracle on 34th Street” Dec. 9-10. The holiday classic will be presented as a vintage radio play using the actual script from a 1948 broadcast. The performances feature a few carols for the audience to sing along, and Santa is available for photo ops after the show.
Shows are Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Westmont High School Theater, 4805 Westmont Ave. Tickets are $10 at the door.
Salamanders’ secrets
The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority is hosting a virtual Friday lunch presentation Dec. 16 to learn all about the shy and sensitive tiger salamander. Topics will include their lifecycle, where salamanders live and breed, why they are endangered and how the authority works to protect tiger salamander habitat.

Winter welcome walk
The California Native Plant Society, the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society and the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority are organizing a walk Dec. 17 to celebrate the first day of winter and identify birds and plants in Lake Cunningham Regional Park.
The walk is 4 miles round trip on a level path. Bring a hat, water, your bird and plant list and binoculars, and wear comfortable walking shoes.
Lake Cunningham Regional Park is located at 2305 S. White Road, San Jose. Walkers should meet at the Marina Building next to Raging Waters at 9 a.m. Parking fee is $6.
