Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson missed his 13th straight practice and backup Tyler Huntley was a limited participant Wednesday as the team gears up for a crucial AFC North matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
Coach John Harbaugh did not provide an update on Jackson, who has been sidelined with a knee injury he suffered in the first quarter of the Ravens’ 10-9 win over the Denver Broncos a month ago. “I’m just probably gonna leave all that stuff alone, and focus on the game,” he said.
Huntley, who is dealing with an injury to his wrist and throwing shoulder, has started the last five games, completing 48 of 80 passes for 470 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. In Sunday night’s 16-13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Huntley threw for 130 yards and a touchdown, as well as an interception in the final seconds as the Ravens attempted a comeback.
Harbaugh did not comment on whether Huntley’s shoulder injury is similar to the one he dealt with before the Ravens’ win over the Atlanta Falcons on Dec. 24.
Veteran cornerback Marcus Peters returned to practice after missing the last two games with a calf injury. Right tackle Morgan Moses also practiced after exiting Sunday’s loss with a biceps injury, and reserve cornerback Daryl Worley (hamstring) participated after being placed on injured reserve last month.
Peters was a limited participant while Moses did not appear on the team’s injury report.
In addition to Jackson, outside linebacker Justin Houston (rest), defensive tackle Calais Campbell (rest/knee) wide receiver DeSean Jackson (illness), running back J.K. Dobbins (rest), right guard Kevin Zeitler (rest) and left tackle Ronnie Stanley (rest) also missed practice.
Harbaugh said he expects Campbell to practice Thursday after missing Sunday’s game.
While the Ravens continue to wait for Jackson’s potential return, offensive coordinator Greg Roman said late last week that the 2019 NFL Most Valuable Player has been engaged and working hard in his rehabilitation.
“The way we feel, the sooner we can get him back, the better, especially heading into the playoffs,” Roman said. “Love to get some work in before then. But you can’t rush Mother Nature, and we’ve got to make sure he’s right at the same time. … You don’t blink. You just keep moving and try to get him out there as soon as we can.”
If Jackson doesn’t practice for the remainder of the week, he would have just three practices next week to prepare for the Ravens’ opponent in the wild-card round. On Monday, Harbaugh declined to speculate on whether that would leave Jackson enough time to be ready to play.
The Bengals held a walk-through Wednesday after Monday’s game against the Buffalo Bills was suspended after Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest and was taken to a local hospital, where he is in critical condition but showing “signs of improvement.” Starting defensive lineman Sam Hubbard was estimated to be a a limited participant due to a calf injury.
