SAN FRANCISCO — Stephen Curry continues to make progress in his recovery from a left shoulder injury and could be back on the court for the Warriors by mid-January.

That’s according to Warriors general manager Bob Myers, who provided an update on the team’s superstar Wednesday during his biweekly appearance on 95.7 The Game.

Myers said Curry hasn’t experienced any setbacks in his recovery from a partially dislocated left shoulder that he injured while trying to strip the ball from an opponent last month. He’s scheduled to be re-assessed Saturday, which should paint a better picture on what Curry’s return timeline might be.

The hope, Myers said, is that Curry will be back in time to kickoff the Warriors’ five-game road trip, which begins in San Antonio on Jan. 13.

“He’s working out on the court,” Myers told Steiny & Guru. “There’s been no setbacks.”

That’s some promising news for the Warriors, who’ve recently been bogged down by injuries. Golden State will have six players shelved Wednesday night for Wednesday’s contest against the Detroit Pistons. Andrew Wiggins (non-COVID illness), Jonathan Kuminga (sprained right foot), JaMychal Green (lower right leg infection), James Wiseman (sprained left ankle) and Andre Iguodala (injury management) will all join Curry in being out of commission for Wednesday’s game as the Warriors look to extend their season-long win streak to six.

But even with a depleted roster and playing without their top two scorers, the Warriors have managed to do more than just stay afloat.

Golden State has gone 6-3 since Curry went down and improved to 20-18 overall. The reigning champs have gradually made up ground in the congested Western Conference standings and currently reside in the ninth slot — just a 1/2 game back from sixth place.
