PACIFIC GROVE – A Seaside man was arrested on suspicion of carjacking and kidnapping in Pacific Grove according to a press release from the PG police.
Zachary Drehobl, 36, was booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges of carjacking, kidnapping, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, trespassing, tampering with a vehicle, resisting arrest and driving on a suspended license.
At about 3 p.m., Wednesday, Pacific Grove Police officers were dispatched to 160 Country Club Gate in Pacific Grove on a report of a disturbance.
After an investigation, police suspected Drehobl had stolen a Mazda Miata out of Monterey, drove it to the Chevron station on Forest Avenue in Pacific Grove, and carjacked a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with the passenger still inside. He then drove to the Country Club Gate site, the release said, where he attempted to forcibly remove the passenger.
Drehobl fled the area where officers contacted him in the Forest Grove residential community into a garage where he was found tampering with a vehicle. He was arrested and determined to be in possession of stolen property.
