The Regnart Creek Trail in Cupertino is seen where it ended on East Estates Drive, between Vicksburg Drive and La Mar Court, prior to its extension connecting Torre Avenue and Pacifica Drive to the existing creekside trail at East Estates Drive. Though its public opening is still months away, the Regnart Creek Trail Project was recently named Project of the Year by the American Public Works Association’s Silicon Valley chapter. This event is open to high school-age youth and older adults age 50 and up. Lunch will be provided. The event is free, but pre-registration is required. Register in person at the Cupertino Senior Center, 21251 Stevens Creek Blvd., or by emailing senior_center@cupertino.org.

Bikeway study meeting

The City of Cupertino is looking for community feedback on its feasibility study to develop alternatives for a bikeway to Lawson Middle School. A virtual community meeting on the study is set for March 16 at 6:30 p.m.

The goal of the study is to develop a design that will provide students safe access to the bike cages on campus while taking into consideration the needs of the school community and surrounding neighborhoods. Designs being considered include a multi-use path, two-way separated bikeway and bike boulevard.

To attend the meeting, register at https://cityofcupertino.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_aZv4GBWWSvCspJx-U-4ECQ?utm_medium.

Trail opening update

Cupertino will be one step closer to closing “The Loop” when the city hosts a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the Regnart Creek Trail. The date and location of the event have been changed to Saturday, March 18 at 10 a.m. at Wilson Park, 10294 S Portal Ave., near the new pedestrian bridge.
