WOODSIDE – Authorities on Thursday arrested a Woodside man on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child more than 20 years ago.
Alan Frank Russell was arrested on a $200,000 warrant for lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Friday.
Detectives opened the investigation in June 2022. The sheriff’s office said the case involved a child who was sexually assaulted over a span of eight years by a family friend, beginning when the victim was 8 years old.
“Because these crimes occurred over 20 years ago, it is unknown at this time if there are other unidentified victims,” the sheriff’s office said.
