One person was killed in a hit-and-run collision early Wednesday morning on the busy street of El Camino Real in South San Francisco, according to authorities.
Police were alerted of the incident at 1:06 a.m. The victim was attempting to walk across southbound lanes of traffic on the 1500 block of El Camino Real when they were struck by an unknown vehicle. Police say the driver left the scene.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity was not released publicly pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
El Camino Real remained closed between Hickey Boulevard and McLellan Drive as of 7 a.m. for emergency roadwork. There was no estimated time for reopening given.
