BAY POINT — An 18-year-old Concord man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal shooting of a man in Bay Point last weekend, authorities said.
The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office late Wednesday afternoon through spokesperson Jimmy Lee released a statement on the homicide, which happened in the 400 block of Clifford Court on April 29. Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene about 9:25 p.m.
In their first statement about the incident, the sheriff’s office said 19-year-old Jesus Gallegos died in a shooting. Deputies found him with a single gunshot wound to an undisclosed part of his body.
Lee said deputies detained and interviewed a suspect and that they subsequently arrested Kai Rossberg, 18, of Concord, on suspicion of murder.
Rossberg remained in the Martinez Detention Facility early Thursday in lieu of $1 million bail.
The sheriff’s office said they are still investigating and asked anyone with information to contact them at 925-313-2600.
