GAME 1: Lakers at Warriors at Chase Center, at 7 p.m. TV: TNT. Announcers: Brian Anderson (play-by-play), Stan Van Gundy (color commentary), Chris Haynes (sideline reporting).

ODDS: Kings -1. OVER/UNDER: 230. (Both from Caesars Sportsbook.)

SEASON SERIES: Lakers went 3-1 against the Warriors in the regular season. PRIOR PLAYOFF HISTORY: Lakers have won 5-of-6 postseason series, including the last one in 1991.

Ever since Steve Kerr joined the Warriors’ core of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green as head coach, they’ve faced 11 of the other 14 Western Conference foes and vanquished them all. Some multiple times.

But for many Warriors fans, there is one opponent they’ve been waiting for this group to face. And now, finally, we’re getting that matchup.

It’s the Warriors and the Lakers.

Oh, and for good measure, that means we get a fifth head-to-head showdown between Curry and LeBron James, too.

But the most important matchup may not be Curry versus whoever guards him, or James against the Warriors’ wings like Andrew Wiggins (and maybe Jonathan Kuminga?). Instead, the series may come down to Anthony Davis going up against Kevon Looney and Draymond Green.

After a rollicking seven-game series against the Kings, who Curry helped vanquish with an NBA Game 7 record 50 points on Sunday, it’s a quick turnaround for Golden State. Will fatigue be a factor, especially since Los Angeles got to rest on Sunday? We’ll find out soon enough.

After a 32-year wait for this matchup, even the final few minutes feels like too long to get going. But it’s finally here — and it should be a blast.

Follow along with our reporters Madeline Kenney, Jason Mastrodonato, Curtis Pashelka, Shayna Rubin and columnist Dieter Kurtenbach and other analysts providing their thoughts about the game.
