MILPITAS – A 41-year-old San Jose man has been arrested in connection with an attempted arson at a Milpitas bank last week, police said.
The incident was reported around 2:40 p.m. Friday at the Bank of America at 740 East Calaveras Blvd.
The suspect placed an incendiary device near the front doors of the bank, lit it on fire and left in a newer maroon Honda Accord, according to the Milpitas Police Department.
The flames were extinguished before anyone was injured or property was damaged.
Around 10:15 a.m. Monday, detectives arrested the suspect and booked him into Santa Clara County jail on charges of attempted arson and possession of an incendiary device.
Police said the suspect is a registered arson offender.
The motive for the attempted arson remains under investigation, according to police.
