OAKLAND — A 65-year-old Richmond woman was shot multiple times early Tuesday as she sat in a parked car in East Oakland, authorities said.
She was in stable condition at a hospital..
The shooting was reported about 2 a.m. Tuesday in the 6700 block of MacArthur Boulevard. Police said the woman was sitting in a parked car when at least one person and possibly more began shooting at the vehicle.
The woman was hit at least twice. She was able to make it to a home in the area where police and medical personnel were called.
Some parked vehicles and structures were also hit by the gunfire but no other injuries were reported. Dozens of shell casings were recovered in the area.
Police are trying to confirm why the woman was in Oakland as well as determine what the motive was for the shooting. No arrests were announced.
