SAN JOSE – A man was shot to death over the weekend in North San Jose, police said Monday.

Officers were called to the 400 block of Queens Lane, near Old Bayshore Highway, around 4:05 a.m. Sunday for a report of a person shot, San Jose police Officer Steve Aponte said in a news release. They arrived to find a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

He died there, police said. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his identity once it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.

Aponte said the motive and circumstances surrounding the homicide are under investigation. Police did not announce any arrests Monday.

The death marked the city’s second homicide since Friday and the 19th overall of 2023. At this time last year, San Jose police had also investigated 19 homicides in the city.
