Acclaimed TV journalist Pam Moore has retired from KRON4.
Pam Moore, one of the Bay Area’s most popular and acclaimed TV anchors, has retired from KRON4.
She brought her career as KRON4 news anchor — a position she had held since March 1991 — to a close with a broadcast on June 29.
“It is difficult to find the appropriate words to thank everyone,” Moore posted on Facebook. “I am so honored and blessed to have worked in the San Francisco Bay Area news market all these years.. and to work with such great professionals .. many of whom are now my dear and lasting friends.
“Through the tests of any job, I have had the opportunity to work in one place for more than three decades… and to try and serve the people of the Bay Area who are also a part of my life.. I have been given the chance to grow, to be challenged, to look back on mistakes and times when I’ve fallen short, but still be allowed to be here to get better and to love and enjoy the people in our shared communities.”
In recognition of her long tenure as news anchor, KRON4 has renamed its San Francisco news studio as the “Pam Moore Studio 4.”
“We want all who enter the KRON4 studio to be reminded of the journalistic principles that Pam has exemplified throughout her career and to be inspired by the legacy that is Pam Moore,” Josh Palefsky, KRON4 News Director, was quoted as saying on the kron4.com website.
Other recognition included San Francisco Mayor London Breed proclaiming June 29, 2023 — the date of the anchor’s last evening newscast — as Pam Moore Day in San Francisco and a proclamation honoring Moore from Oakland City Mayor Sheng Thao, according to KRON4.
Moore’s retirement was met with plenty of tributes and well wishes on social media, including some from co-workers at KRON4.
“Pam Moore spent her entire 32 year career at Kron uplifting so many in the Bay Area by sharing their stories,” tweeted anchor Reyna Harvey. “There is something very empowering about walking into our newly renamed Pam Moore studio, now that’s a legacy.”

Although Moore has retired from the anchor desk, she will still “report across KRON4 platforms as a special contributor,” according to the news station.
