A series of food truck events — a Food Truck Frenzy — are headed for Pleasanton’s Stoneridge Shopping Center this month offering cupcakes, Colombian food, rock band-themed burgers and even Hello Kitty treats and merch.
The mobile restaurants will set up shop in front of the Cheesecake Factory and Macy’s Women on six days throughout July.
Here are the planned events:
Saturday and Sunday, July 8 and 9, noon to 6 p.m.
Sweet Back Cupcakes will bring its trailer featuring fresh, colorfully-frosted cupcakes. Started by Alane Webb, who grew up in Sunnyvale, the online cupcakery and delivery service offers a chocolate, vanilla, and fruit-inspired cupcake flavors. Among them, a chocolate cherry cordial cupcake, made with bittersweet chocolate cake and frosted with maraschino cream cheese frosting and drizzled with a chocolate ganache, as well as seasonal flavors like piña colada, peaches and cream and Key lime.
Friday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 23, from noon to 6 p.m.
The Crazy Empanadas food truck will offer Colombian food such as empanadas, arepas, fries and tacos on a menu that also includes items like the Patacon antioqueño, which is made of beef, crunchy pork belly, beans, rice sweet plantains, avocado and sweet corn, plus vegan empanadas and choripapas, or fries served with chorizo, cheese and a housemade special sauce.
Sunday, July 16, noon to 6 p.m.
The Rock Club Burgers food truck offers to-go burgers named after rock bands. So the Korn burger fills housemade buns with barbecue pulled pork, corn, cheese and cilantro, while the Metallica burger features a beef patty, pepper jack cheese, bacon jam, barbecue sauce and lettuce.
Saturday, July 29, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Hello Kitty Cafe truck returns to the shopping center with its signature branded treats and merch. Menu items include macarons, cookies and madeleines.
