Three days after a police dog’s AWOL adventure made headlines, another K9 officer has gone missing in the Fresno area.

The police department in Reedley reported that one of its dogs, a German shepherd named Kona, escaped his handler’s garage in Visalia around 11 p.m. Tuesday. It is thought he was agitated by fireworks.

The tracking device that had been on the dog’s collar was found in an area of orchards southeast of Visalia.

Reedley police asked that anyone who sees Kona call them at (559) 637-4250. He is described as 80 pounds, sable in color and wearing a black nylon collar.

On Saturday, a dog named Odin got out of the Fresno yard of his handler, a Madera County sheriff’s deputy, and was missing more than 18 hours. That night, a woman called the sheriff’s office to say she had come home to find Odin hanging out with her dog in the yard.
