OAKLAND — Two females were shot Monday night in East Oakland, authorities said.
Initial reports were that one is a teenager, possibly 15, but police were trying to confirm her age.
The other is a 24-year-old woman, authorities said..
Both were shot in the upper torso and were in stable condition Tuesday, authorities said. Police have not yet said if the victims knew each other.
The shooting happened about 8:50 p.m. Monday near the intersection of High and Suter streets, south of Interstate 580. The shooting activated a gunshot detection system.
The victims got their own transportation to a hospital. Police recovered numerous shell casings at the scene.
A motive for the shooting is under investigation. No arrests have been made and no suspect information has been released.
