OAKLAND — A suspect in an Oakland road rage shooting has been charged in federal court and is expected to be hit with an indictment this month, as his attorney and prosecutors negotiate a plea deal, court records show.
Antoyne Bullock, 43, is charged with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, a federal offense that carries up to 10 years in prison, according to the criminal complaint. He was ordered detained while the case is pending at a July 18 court appearance, records show.
Bullock is the suspect in a May 25 nonfatal shooting on Interstate 580 in Oakland near Keller Avenue, where he allegedly fired at a Dodge traveling near him, causing the driver of the Dodge to collide with Bullock’s Ford. The Ford subsequently flipped over, but both Bullock and his passenger, a 37-year-old woman, escaped without injuries.
According to police, Bullock and the woman were on their way to an Oakland hotel around 2 p.m. when the shooting occurred. Bullock allegedly cursed the “old man” in the Dodge, brushed off the woman’s attempts to stop him, and fired a shot. One of the windows on Dodge was shot out but no one was hit by gunfire.
Though police say the woman pleaded with Bullock not to fire, she also allegedly threw his gun into a bush after the collision before officers arrived to the accident site, according to authorities. The gun was found in the bush and a loaded magazine was found in Bullock’s pocket, the complaint alleges. The woman has not been charged with a crime.
The criminal complaint says Bullock has four prior felony convictions from 1998 to 2012, prohibiting him from legally possessing guns.
