Crews were out Friday morning clearing out and tearing down Pacific Grove’s historic LaPorte Mansion, after a fire heavily damaged the home in May. The house was built by banker George Brandt in 1895. The mansion, as well as its gazebo, were featured as the “Pine Island Inn” in the 1959 film “A Summer Place,” starring Troy Donahue and Sandra Dee. The cause of May’s fire remains undetermined and may never be determined according to officials.
