VALLEJO – A Vacaville man is dead after losing control of the pickup truck he was driving on eastbound I-80 in Vallejo Saturday morning, authorities said.
Around 2:45 a.m., three men in their 20s were traveling at high speed in a black Toyota Tundra, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which overturned and struck a concrete divider just east of the Highway 37 overpass, according to the California Highway Patrol in Solano County.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was fatally injured after he was ejected from the Toyota and struck in the roadway, police said.
The two passengers — one from Vacaville, the other out of San Pablo — were transported to North Bay medical center for complaints of neck and back pain.
Authorities believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash. Two lanes of traffic briefly closed during the investigation were reopened by 4:45 a.m.
