REDWOOD CITY – Authorities on Thursday announced the arrests of two men in connection with a shooting roughly two months ago outside a Redwood City diner.

The shooting stemmed from an altercation inside the Denny’s at 1201 Broadway around 2 a.m. on July 8, according to the Redwood City Police Department. Police said the suspects fired about 15 rounds at the victims and their vehicle, but no one was struck.

One of the suspects was identified as Sergio Montano Zaragoza, 33, of Redwood City, according to police.

On Aug. 25, detectives arrested Montano Zaragoza and served a search warrant at his residence, where they seized a 9mm handgun and cocaine packaged for sale, police said. He was booked into San Mateo County jail on charges including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of cocaine for sale.

Detectives went on to obtain an arrest warrant for Montano Zaragoza’s accomplice, identified as Omar Saavedra Reynaga, 22, of Redwood City, according to police. He was arrested Wednesday and booked into jail on a charge of being an accessory to a crime.

Anyone with information related to the case can contact the police department at 650-780-7100.
