Lionel Richie, EWF
It’s a pairing of two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame acts — Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire — which should translate to a really fun evening of music on Sept. 8 at Chase Center in San Francisco. So, grab a ticket and get ready to sing along to such Richie hits as “Say You, Say Me,” “Dancing On the Ceiling” and “All Night Long (All Night Long)” as well as such EWF classics as “Shining Star,” “Sing a Song,” “Boogie Wonderland” and “September.” Showtime is 7:30 p.m. and tickets start at $82 (subject to change); ticketmaster.com.
Matt Maher
The nine-time Grammy nominee — and six-time Dove Award winner — brings The Stories I Tell Myself Tour to the Redwood Chapel Community Church in Castro Valley on Sept. 13. The acclaimed vocalist is expected to mix such fan favorites as “Lord, I Need You,” “Because He Lives” and “Alive & Breathing” with worship songs from his latest album “The Stories I Tell Myself.” Accompanying Maher on this tour is Jon Reddick, who is known for the 2022 smash “God, Turn It Around.” Showtime is 7 p.m. and tickets are $19.50-$75, transparentproductions.com.
Lizz Wright
The powerhouse vocalist kicks off SFJAZZ’s 2023-24 season with four concerts — Sept. 7-10 — at the SFJAZZ Center in San Francisco. She will be singing tunes from the forthcoming album “Shadows,” which reportedly mixes jazz, blues, R&B, strings and soul, as well as drawing from a wide range of cover material. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7-9 and 7 p.m. Sept. 10. Tickets are $30-$110, sfjazz.org.
