BERKELEY — A person died Tuesday night after they were struck by a train at the North Berkeley BART station, authorities said.
Authorities did not release any information about the person killed, including their gender or age.
The collision happened about 11:06 p.m. Tuesday.
BART officials said in a statement that the person “entered the trackway at (the station) as a train was approaching” and “a fatal collision occurred.”
Officials have not said why they think the person entered the trackway but did say a review of video surveillance at the station revealed there was no foul play involved.
The station was closed and the train evacuated while authorities investigated.
The station reopened at 1:32 a.m. Wednesday.
