MONTEREY – For a third day in a row, the National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory for much of the Bay Area.

The advisory will run through 10 a.m. Wednesday and covers the coast and valleys of the North Bay, the Bay Area shoreline, San Francisco and the San Mateo County coast.

Visibility reductions as low as 1/8th of a mile are possible, the weather service said, adding that commuters should travel carefully and prepare for sudden changes in visibility.

The advisory follows others issued Sunday and Monday.

The weather impacted the commute Tuesday. BART, for example, ran trains at slower speeds.

Dense fog also appeared to play a role in a traffic fatality early Monday morning in Mountain View. An employee arriving for work at a Walmart in the 600 block of Showers Drive hit a woman in the middle of the parking lot. She died later at a hospital.

Check back for updates.
