GILROY – Hate graffiti was scrawled on the walls of Christopher High School in Gilroy on Monday night, police said.

The incident happened around 11:40 p.m. at the campus, located at 850 Day Road, according to the Gilroy Police Department.

Police said three suspects wrote hate graffiti on the walls and ransacked several classrooms.

Dustin Odell, a school resource officer assigned to the campus, is investigating the incident and working with school staff members to gather evidence, according to police.

“The Gilroy Police Department takes these acts very seriously, and it is being investigated as a hate crime,” the police department said in a statement. “We are committed to ensuring the safety of our children and will continue to collaborate closely with the Gilroy Unified School District and the staff at Christopher High School.”

Police on Tuesday did not announce any arrests or release a description of the suspects.

Anyone with information related to the case can call Odell at 408-846-0403 or the tip line at 408-846-0330.
