GILROY – A Southern California man was arrested Tuesday in connection with an attempted bank robbery last week in Gilroy, police said.
The incident happened around 2:25 p.m. on Feb. 3 at a bank branch in the 7100 block of Camino Arroyo, the Gilroy Police Department said in a news release Wednesday.
The suspect handed a note to a teller “indicating a robbery,” but then left without taking any cash, police said.
Detectives identified the suspect as a 53-year-old Garden Grove man and obtained a warrant for his arrest, police said. An alert about the warrant was issued to other law enforcement agencies around the state.
On Tuesday, Garden Grove police officers arrested the suspect at his home, police said.
Gilroy police officers traveled to Southern California, picked up the suspect and took him back to Santa Clara County, where he was booked into jail on charges related to bank robbery.
Anyone with information related to the case can contact Gilroy police Detective Jason Greathead at 408-846-0373.
