Over the last year, Bay Area News Group readers have traveled from the salt mines of Austria to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro and everywhere in between. Along the way, they not only shared their travel adventures, they passed along practical touring tips, too.

Here’s the latest installment, this time from India.

INDIA: Concord residents Terry and Corinne Sutherland recently spent four weeks in India, Bhutan and Nepal. “We visited the Taj Mahal, Mother Teresa’s grave, the Ganges River and several World Heritage locations,” Terry says. A safari offered incredible sights and a chance to photograph Bengal tigers. Bhutan’s famous Tiger’s Nest monastery, Paro Taktsang, offered plenty of memorable sights  — and “Corinne made the difficult climb to the top.” And, Terry adds, “in Nepal, we flew a small plane from Kathmandu to the Himalayas, where we viewed Mount Everest.”

TRAVEL TIPS: The sheer density and traffic of India’s big cities is a bit daunting. “Be prepared to go outside your comfort zone among India’s 1.4 billion pedestrians and motorists. We also learned to explain that we are from America and not the U.S. to avoid blank stares when questioned by friendly locals.”

Join the fun! Send a photo of yourself on your latest adventures — local, domestic or international — to jburrell@bayareanewsgroup.com. Tell us where you are, who everyone is and where they’re from, and share a travel tip or two to help fellow readers go there, too.
