EAST PALO ALTO — Police have released surveillance video footage with the hopes of getting public help solving a February double stabbing that resulted in one of the victims dying from his injuries this past weekend.

The fatal attack was reported around 8:25 p.m. Feb. 8 near University Avenue and Bell Street, according to East Palo Alto police. Responding police officers found two men suffering from stab wounds, and they were taken to a hospital.

One of the men suffered what police described as life-threatening injuries, and he died March 2, police said. Authorities have identified him as Frank Finney, 60, of East Palo Alto. The second victim survived his injuries.

Police said in a Monday news release that they have not identified any suspects in the killing.

“Thank you to all the community members who have already been working with us to identify Mr. Finney’s attacker, but … we do not have a viable suspect identified,” police said.

To that end, investigators have released an excerpt of surveillance footage that vaguely shows the attack — though the resolution is too blurry to see any significant detail of the people involved — as well as a large white SUV whose driver directly witnessed the crime.

Police said they are seeking public tips and want the SUV driver to come forward and tell investigators about what they saw.

The news release added that the nonprofit Mothers Against Murder is offering a $10,000 reward for information submitted within the next 90 days that leads to an arrest and conviction in the stabbing.

Anyone with information for police can contact Detective Sgt. Joseph Klein at 650-833-9904, and anonymous tips can be submitted by calling or texting 650-409-6792, or emailing epa@tipnow.org.
