Political veteran and former Congresswoman Jackie Speier appears set to make her return to local government next year.
Early returns on Tuesday evening, Election Day, showed Speier with a clear lead against sole opponent Millbrae City Councilmember Ann Schneider in the race to represent District 1 on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors.
Speier has said she would prioritize housing issues, transportation and public safety in office.
Meanwhile in District 4, in southern San Mateo County, early returns show East Palo Alto council members Lisa Gauthier and Antonio Lopez in the lead.
