More than two weeks after his body was discovered in the bushes on the north side of Travis Boulevard, near Interstate 80, the man found deceased has now been identified and investigators believe the cause of his death was homicide.
In the early morning hours of March 20, dispatchers informed Fairfield Police Department officers that they received a call from a witness stating they had found a man lying in the bushes on the north side of Travis Boulevard, near Interstate-80, and they did not appear to be breathing.
When officers arrived on scene immediately after, they found the man, who has now been identified as 44-year-old Zebulon Ira Baldwin, deceased. Responding officers immediately began investigating the circumstances of Baldwin’s death and it has since been ruled as a homicide.
One suspect, 39-year-old Erick John Fredericks, has since been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with Baldwin’s death.
At this time, is it unclear if there was any connection between the victim and Fredericks prior to the homicide because Fairfield police officials did not respond for comment at press time.
Anyone with additional information relevant to the investigation is asked to contact the Fairfield PD Investigations Unit at (707) 428-7300.
