Across the country, law enforcement agencies’ inability — or refusal — to send their annual crime data to the FBI has resulted in a distorted picture of the United States’ crime trends, according to a new Stateline analysis of the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting program participation data. REDWOOD CITY — Authorities ordered evacuations Monday to residents living close to a massive fire that broke out at a construction site.

The blaze roared in the 2700 block of Middlefield Road and Redwood City, authorities said. Fire crews were dispatched to the scene

In a social media post, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office told residents who live nearby the blaze on Pacific Avenue and Calvin Avenue “to EVACUATE IMMEDIATEY [sic].” Those evacuations later were extended to include residents on Dumbarton Avenue from the train tracks to Middlefield Road.

The sheriff’s office first posted about the evacuations just before 11 a.m.

There were no immediate details on the fire itself and how long it may take to bring it under control.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
