Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav is doing everything he can to save Red Lobster as the embattled restaurant chain battles extinction.
“Ya boy meant it when I said I was gonna do anything and everything to help @redlobster and save the cheddar bay biscuits… ordered the whole menu!!!”” the Roosevelt, N.Y. native captioned a photo of him lording over a lot of seafood at one of its locations.
Red Lobster said last month it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy but hoped to continue operating as it has for the past five decades, despite closing dozens of locations and putting inventory — including kitchen equipment and furniture — up for auction.
Flavor Flav at the time urged Red Lobster to “call” him.
“I use my platform to help others and now I wanna use it to help save one of America’s greatest dining dynasties,” he wrote on X.
On Wednesday, the eatery enthusiastically responded to Flavor Flav’s latest visit to one of its locations.
“Not all heroes wear capes! This hero wears clocks!!” they wrote in response to one commenter, referring to the rapper famously wearing timepieces around his neck.
“Flavor Flav is a true Cheddar Bae!” the restaurant said to another.
Flavor Flav’s support of Red Lobster was appreciated by many of his fans online, who also said they’re rooting for the restaurant to survive.
When some suggested the rapper was given the food he ordered free of charge, he insisted that wasn’t the case. It’s unclear where his seafood bender took place and the eatery could not be reached for comment.
As his stage name indicates, Flavor Flav is a foodie.
William Jonathan Drayton Jr. grew up working in his family’s soul food eatery and has spoken about attending culinary school, though he hasn’t been so lucky in the restaurant business.
The “Shut Em Down” rapper opened a fried chicken joint in Iowa in 2011 but closed it barely four months later. The following year, he opened a House of Flavor eatery in Las Vegas that lasted just six months, according to SPIN.
