A San Fernando Valley man is suspected of filming a YouTube video in which two women repeatedly shot fireworks at a Lamborghini car from a helicopter last year in San Bernardino County, and the suspect was arrested on Wednesday, June 5, the United States Department of Justice announced Thursday, June 6.

Suk Min Choi, 24, of Studio City, was arrested on suspicion of causing the placement of an explosive or incendiary device on an aircraft.

According to an affidavit filed, Choi posted a video on his YouTube channel on July 4, 2023.

In the video, Choi allegedly pressed a “fire missiles button” and shot fireworks at a speeding Lamborghini sportscar while two women were in a helicopter, Wednesday’s statement said.

According to the DOJ, authorities believe the video was shot on the El Mirage Dry Lakebed in San Bernardino County.

In other portions of the video, Choi is seen next to the helicopter, holding a firework, according to the affidavit.

During the behind-the-scenes video portion, Choi allegedly references himself coordinating the shoot and that he shot the video.

In the video, Choi thanks a camera company for “being a part of my crazy stupid ideas.”

Authorities believe that Choi allegedly committed the offense sometime in June 2023, that he did not have a permit to film a shoot using fireworks on a helicopter, and that he purchased the fireworks in Nevada because they were illegal in California, according to the affidavit.

“If convicted, Choi would face a statutory maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison,” Thursday’s announcement said.
