Crews battle vegetation fire in North San Jose on Fourth of July

SAN JOSE — Firefighters were dispatched to a vegetation fire Thursday night in North San Jose.

The fire was reported around 8:40 p.m. in a vacant lot near State Street and Pacific Avenue, according to the San Jose Fire Department. Crews contained the fire to two acres.

No injuries were reported.

Traffic was impacted by the incident and authorities asked people to avoid the area.

Elsewhere in Northern California, crews worked to get the Thompson Fire under control. The 3,789-acre blaze in the Oroville Dam area has led to the evacuation of 28,000 people.

Crews also had their hands full with the French Fire in Mariposa. The blaze had burned 400 acres and was 0% contained as of late Thursday, according to Cal Fire.
