Ray J has fans concerned for his mental health after posting on Monday that he’s “suicidal,” following multiple confrontations at the BET Awards the previous night.
In a long, cryptic note to his Instagram Story, the “I Hit It First” singer, 43, said things “went bad” at the awards ceremony Sunday and “then later on too,” claiming he wasn’t allowed to reenter the building after going outside to take a break.
He then said he’s under pressure to stay quiet about something and was “paid … to shut up,” according to screenshots captured by TMZ, though he didn’t clarify what he was referencing.
“The s–t that is happening is mind blowing,” he wrote. “It’s making me suicidal and uncomfortable with the perception of reality!”
“Right after I die .. I promise you I will be [free] of it all,” he added, saying goodbye and apologizing to his sister, Brandy.
“I will make it right, I won’t let them get away with it!” he concluded the post.
During the ceremony, Ray J appeared to have some kind of meltdown outside the venue, talking with security and even removing his shirt at one point, in clips obtained by TMZ.
“I didn’t bring the ghetto to BET yet, but I’m about to!!!” Ray J can be heard saying in one video.
According to sources close to the situation, the singer was hired by BET to host a backstage access show on Sunday night, but reportedly kept trying to exit and reenter without his credentials.
Later that night, Ray J was again caught on camera, getting into a heated confrontation at a BET Awards afterparty hosted by GloRilla.
The R&B singer’s concerning comments on Monday were similar to past claims he’s made on Instagram.
During one particularly troubling incident in October 2022, Ray J showed himself to be sitting on the ledge of a building, and wrote about wanting to take his own life.
