Outfielder Mike Yastrzemski is back in the resurgent Giants’ lineup today, after missing the past nine games with an oblique strain.

Yastrzemski will bat eighth in the 4:20 p.m. (PT) series opener at Atlanta, where the Giants will play three games before heading to Cleveland for a three-game set.

The Giants went 5-4 in Yastrzemski’s absence, including wins in their first 3-of-4 games against the Chicago Cubs before taking 2-of-3 from the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers to cap a homestand.

Yastrzemski went on the 10-day injured list after leaving the Giants’ June 20 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Giants’ full lineup:

Jorge Soler (DH)

LaMonte Wade Jr. (1B)

Heliot Ramos (CF)

Patrick Bailey (C)

Matt Chapman (3B)

Michael Conforto (LF)

Brett Wisely (2B)

Yastrzemski (RF)

Nick Ahmed (SS)

Hayden Birdsong (0-0, 5.79 ERA) will be making his first major-league road start. He debuted last Wednesday at home against the Cubs, throwing 4 2/3 innings and yielding three runs on six hits and five walks.

ROUPP SENT DOWN

In a corresponding roster move, right-handed pitcher Landen Roupp got optioned to Triple-A Sacramento. He allowed three runs on three hits and two walks in 2 2/3 relief innings before Tyler Rogers came in to get the final out of Sunday’s 10-4 win over the Dodgers.

Monday, infielder Trenton Brooks and pitcher Raymond Burgos cleared waivers and were outrighted to Sacramento.

JOURNEYMAN ADDED

Left-handed pitcher Kolton Ingram got claimed off waivers from St. Louis and was optioned to Double-A Richmond. Ingram is 3-0 with a 4.26 ERA in Triple-A for three different organizations this season (Mets, Cardinals, Rangers). He got designated for assignment Sunday as the Cardinals made room for pitcher Jacob Bosiokovic’s major-league debut. Ingram, 27, appeared in five big-league games last year for the Los Angeles Angeles (0-0, 8.44) and pitched 5 1/3 innings (seven runs, five earned runs, eight hits, two home runs, five walks, seven strikeouts).

FUTURES GAME PICK

Bryce Eldridge, a 19-year-old infielder, was named to MLB’s Futures Game on July 13 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. He began the year at Single-A San Jose (10 home runs, 45 RBI, 34 runs in 51 games) before his promotion last week to High-A Eugene (6-for-12, four RBI in four games).

RULE OF THREE

The Giants have scored at least three runs in 11 consecutive games, tied with Milwaukee for the majors’ longest active streak. If they continue that run in this opener at Atlanta, it will be their longest such stretch since 2021.

ROAD WOES

The Giants enter Truist Field with a 41-44 record, including a 16-25 mark on the road for a .390 winning percentage that ranks sixth-worst in the majors. They have lost five in a row on the road and nine of their past 13.
