A man was arrested in San Bruno on suspicion of multiple felonies Wednesday morning after authorities received reports of a stabbing and attempted theft of a bus, according to a statement by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, a 58-year-old man from Oakland, was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, theft of a motor vehicle, resisting or delaying a peace officer and false identification to a peace officer.

The initial altercation was reported around 9:15 a.m. on board a SamTrans bus on the 1100 block of Huntington Avenue. Authorities said they received reports that a passenger was stabbed and the suspect was attempting to steal the bus. San Bruno police and the sheriff’s office collaborated to arrest the suspect. He was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation before he was booked.

The victim had a stab wound to the abdomen and was transported to a nearby hospital and underwent surgery. Authorities said the victim was expected to make a full recovery, and this was an isolated incident.
