Symphonic band concert
The Cupertino Symphonic Band will play its annual fall concert on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 3 p.m. at the Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N Stelling Road. Admission is free; donations of canned goods benefit West Valley Community Services.

College admissions expo
Flex College Prep is hosting a Sept. 21 expo on “The Changing Landscape of College Admissions” at De Anza College in Cupertino. Speakers including former Harvard admissions officer Devery Doran and University of California-Santa Cruz admissions officer Gianna Benson will discuss changes and trends in college admissions for UC campuses and private colleges. Other topics include the latest trends and strategies for standardized testing. The expo also features a mock admissions committee reviewing student cases and a separate workshop on “Cracking the Code for UC Essays” for high school juniors and seniors.

A dairy nice hike
Hiking and cheese tasting are on the September calendar for Bay Area Older Adults.
A day trip on Wednesday, Sept. 18, starts with cheese tasting at a local dairy farm, then a stop for lunch by the beach followed by a 2-mile walk at Pt. Reyes National Seashore to see and learn about Tule elk. A shuttle leaves Cupertino at 8 p.m.
