Students pose in front of Sunnyvale School in 1909. The school replaced Encina School, which opened in 1899 to serve families in the then-town of Encinal. By the time this photo was taken, the faculty had grown from one teacher to three and the Sunnyvale School District had been formed. The district is celebrating its 125th anniversary on Oct. 16.
