Editorial: Voters, here’s what they’re trying to hide about local bond measures

The ballot measures above are examples of the bad and the good. While state law requires ballot wording for bond measures to specify the amount of the property tax increase, it doesn't require them to call it a tax. Fremont Unified School District went out of its way to avoid using the word tax, and provided the amount in cents, to make it look smaller and make it harder for property owners to calculate how much they'll pay. Pittsburg Unified School District was explicit that their measure requires a new tax and clearly expressed the amount.
