OAKLAND – Two East Bay BART stations were closed Wednesday night due to a “major medical emergency,” officials said.
The emergency happened just before 9 p.m. at the Fruitvale BART station, BART spokesperson Anna Duckworth said in a recorded message. She did not disclose the exact nature of the emergency.
As a result of the emergency, both the Fruitvale and Lake Merritt BART stations were closed.
“We do have personnel on-scene working on this situation,” Duckworth said.
The station closures are causing a “major delay” on the Berryessa Line in the Dublin/Pleasanton, Berryessa, Richmond and Daly City directions, Duckworth said.
AC Transit buses 73 and 1T are offering parallel service during the station closures.
