WATSONVILLE — The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office located two deceased men early Friday after a reported shooting outside of Watsonville.

The men, both 21-year-old Santa Cruz County residents, reportedly both died of gunshot wounds, despite lifesaving efforts at the scene on the 700 block of Carlton Road. Authorities responded to the residential address, surrounded by agricultural fields, shortly before 1 a.m.

The Sheriff’s Office was withholding identification of the two men until family had been notified.

Detectives are seeking a motive behind the shooting and are asking anyone with information to call Sheriff’s Office dispatch at (831) 471-1121.
