Crash at East Bay intersection kills one, injures two others

DANVILLE — A person died Saturday after a minivan and truck collided with each other at a major intersection, police said.

The wreck about 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Ramon killed a passenger in the truck. Four other people were taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek to be checked out. According to a statement from the Danville Police Department, the drivers of both vehicles suffered minor injuries, while two other passengers in the truck were unhurt.

The truck overturned after the collision, police said.

Authorities did not identify immediately the person who did not survive.

Details of how the the crash unfolded were not released by police. They said they are still investigating.

Police kept the intersection closed for more than 6 hours after the crash, until 7:50 p.m. They asked anyone who may have information on the wreck to contact Sgt. Ray Bullard at rbullard@danville.ca.gov or 925-314-3700.
