ANTIOCH – A 33-year-old man died last month in Antioch after he stepped off his bicycle, fell into the roadway and was hit by a passing motorist, according to authorities.
The collision happened around 8:10 a.m. on April 19 on Lone Tree Way, just south of James Donlon Boulevard, Antioch police Lt. Joe Njoroge said in a news release.
The man was taken to an area hospital, where he later died. He was not publicly identified Wednesday.
Njoroge said the driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and cooperated with officers.
The police department’s traffic unit is investigating the collision.
“At this time, drugs and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors,” Njoroge said.
