Pamela Benefante watches as workers clear a homeless encampment on Harrison and Eighth Streets in Berkeley, Calif., on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Benefante has lived there for seven years. "I think they're wrong, they didn't have approval and they're taking people's personal possessions," Benefante said. "We didn't ask to be homeless, but we are." (Jane Tyska/Bay Area News Group)
